GENERAL TRIAS CITY, CAVITE — The Diocese of Imus has formally established the Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish in Pasong Kawayan II, General Trias City, Cavite, marking a significant milestone in the spiritual and pastoral growth of the Catholic community in the area.
The Decree of Canonical Erection was signed on October 1, 2026, by the Most Rev. Reynaldo G. Evangelista, D.D., Bishop of Imus, officially declaring Sta. Rita de Cascia as a parish of the Diocese of Imus.
The establishment of the new parish responds to the growing need for more accessible and organized spiritual and pastoral care for the Catholic faithful residing within its territory. The newly erected parish encompasses Pasong Kawayan I, Pasong Kawayan II, Buenavista I, as well as several surrounding communities and subdivisions in General Trias City.
Among the communities included within the parish territory are Birmingham Sotera, Christian Heart Village, GenTree Villas, Redfern Village in Lancaster New City, Springside Gentri Homes, Saint Augustine Homes, Amara Villas, Bamboo Heights Subdivision, Belmont Hills, Belvedere Towne, Breeze Woods Gentri Homes, Castillon Homes, Centro de Oro, Heneral Uno Subdivision, Heneral Dos Subdivision, Heroes Town, KAIA Homes, Meridian Place, Natania Homes, Pamayanan ng Bagong Kabitenyo, Paseo Heneral Dos, South Square Village, The Residences, Woodville, Buenavista Town Homes, IL Giardino Residences, Mayflower Subdivision, Rio de Oro, Villaggio Enclave, Villaggio Ignatius Subdivision, and Sitio Pilan.
With its canonical establishment, the parish church is entrusted with the ordinary pastoral responsibilities of a parish community, including the administration of the sacraments. It is likewise granted the privilege of keeping the Blessed Sacrament habitually under the prescribed conditions and possessing a baptismal font, together with the rights proper to a parochial church.
The decree calls upon the faithful of Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish to actively participate in parish programs and ministries that contribute to the building up of the People of God and the transformation of society.
The pastoral leadership of the parish remains entrusted to its Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Glenn Dela Peña, who continues to guide and accompany the community in its journey of faith, service, and mission.
The canonical erection was also witnessed by General Trias, Cavite City Mayor Jonjon Ferrer, together with members of the local Catholic community and other guests who gathered to mark the historic occasion.
In the decree, Bishop Evangelista commended the new parish to the care of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, and invoked the protection of Our Lady of the Pillar, Patroness of the Diocese of Imus, as the community begins this new chapter of its ecclesial journey.
The establishment of Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish reflects the Diocese of Imus continuing commitment to bringing pastoral care closer to the faithful and fostering vibrant parish communities rooted in the Gospel, the sacraments, and service to others.
