August 12, 2026 by Diocesan Media

The Diocese of Imus, through the Ministri sa Pagmamalasakit sa Bayan hold an orientation on Dapat Isa Lang Movement (D1LM), an Anti‑Political Dynasty Campaign, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Langkaan, Dasmariñas City last August 4, 2026 at 8 o'clock in the morning. It was attended by the lay leaders, pastoral workers and representatives from different ministries including Ministri sa mga Bilanggo, Ministri sa Pamilya at Buhay, Ministri sa Panlipunang Komunikasyon, Ministri sa Kalikasan, Cluster of Communities (Simbahayan), and Knights of Columbus of the Vicariates of Immaculate Concepcion and Mother of Perpetual Help.

The event commenced with the registration headed by the members of the Ministri sa Pagmamalasakit sa Bayan, followed by the preliminaries led by Bro. Lawrence San Fernando and the opening prayer led by Bro. Carlo Alexis Malaluan. The program then proceeded with the orientation proper where Bro. Mike Pañares, the Lay Coordinator of the Diocese, oriented everyone about the movement and highlighted our responsibility in choosing the right leader. Emphasis was also given on the stand of the Church about "MAY PANANAGUTAN AT MAY PANANAGUTIN!" Formation of Listening Circles was then facilitated wherein pressing problems that our community faces were discussed and proposed solutions were shared.

In his talk, Bro. Lawrence highlighted the important role of the Church in planting the seed of truth to our youth: He said, “Sa simbahan dapat maging tahanan ng katotohanan at katuwiran kung saan hinuhubog natin ang kabataan hindi lang para maging mahusay bagkus maging maka-Diyos”. He also encouraged everyone to reflect and examine ourselves if we actually do value and promote accountability and truth, “Kung bago tayo managot alamin natin sa sarili natin kung tayo ay may pananagutan” he added.

The orientation was held so people in the community would learn about the "Dapat Isa Lang Movement", a civic coalition to pass a Genuine Anti‑Political Dynasty and also reflect and discuss why political dynasties exist, their impact and why they must end. It also aimed to answer the questions; Why we need a strict Anti‑Political Dynasty Law? Why the Church and the Diocese leads this advocacy? and How to plan collective actions and tasking to support the campaign? The said orientation/ formation was also held for every Dasmarineño because a special local election on August 29 will be conducted.
