A SHEPHERD OF CREATION AND PEACE

April 25, 2025 by Jon Augustin T. Lazaro

In Thanksgiving for the Life and Witness of Pope Francis
A SHEPHERD OF CREATION AND PEACE

As we remember with love and gratitude the life of Pope Francis, we give thanks for a shepherd who not only led the Church with humility but also inspired the world with a deep reverence for creation. His legacy is one of compassion, courage, and an unwavering call to care for 'our common home'.

Through his landmark encyclicals “Laudato Si’” and “Laudate Deum”, Pope Francis taught us that care for creation is not just an environmental duty --- it is a moral and spiritual call. He reminded us that everything in God’s world is interconnected: 'The cry of the earth and the cry of the poor' are one and the same.

In “Laudato Si’”, he invited us to see creation not as a possession to be used, but as a gift to be loved. In “Laudate Deum”, written with urgency and clarity in his later years, he called the global community to action, justice, and ecological conversion.

As a Ministry, we honor Pope Francis not only by remembering his words but by continuing his mission to live simply and gratefully, to protect the poor and vulnerable, to advocate for justice in all its forms, and to walk gently upon this earth, as faithful stewards of God’s creation.

May Pope Francis, who now rests in the arms of our Creator, intercede for us as we strive to care for our common home and live in peace with all of God's creatures.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace. Amen.
