Dear Brother Priests, Consecrated Persons, and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Imus,
Greetings of peace!
In response to the call of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines' (CBCP) pastoral letter entitled, "Call to Immediate Action: Responding to the Crisis in Nutrition and Early Childhood Development, I enjoin all parishes, Christian communities, and religious institutions to act in support of maternal and child health, as undernutrition gravely affects a child's growth, learning, and future.
As a Local Church, the values of the Gospel impel us to be compassionate, especially to the most vulnerable, such as mothers and children whose dignity and future are at risk. In light of this, I encourage everyone to actively initiate the following recommended pastoral initiatives:
1. Integrate maternal and child nutrition into parish pastoral programs, such us feeding programs in collaboration with HAPAG-ASA Integrated Feeding Program of Pondo ng Pinoy Community Foundation, Inc.;
2. establish or strengthen parish-based child development centers that offer catechesis or early learning; and
3. collaborate with local health units and institutions to promote pre-natal care and childhood nutrition.
Attached is the CBCP's pastoral letter for your additional reference. (Please click the link below.)
May our shared efforts reflect the Church's motherly care and compassionate concern.
Given at the Chancery Office, City of Imus, Cavite on the 27th of August 2027.
