TO: THE CLERGY, CONSECRATED PERSONS, LAY FAITHFUL OF THE DIOCESE OF IMUS

RE: GRAVE IRREGULARITIES INVOLVING INDIVIDUALS ILLICITLY ASSUMING ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIESTLY FUNCTIONS

Dear Brother Priests, Consecrated Persons, and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Imus,

Greetings of peace!
It has come to our attention, through reports from concerned members of the faithful of the Diocese of Imus, that certain individuals perform liturgical rites-particularly the administration of sacraments such as Baptism, the Holy Eucharist, Matrimony, and various rites of blessings-using the Roman Catholic Rite despite not being validly ordained Roman Catholic Priests.
I kindly remind all Catholic communities and concerned institutions, including local government units, schools, business establishments, funeral parlors, offices, and similar establishments, that the administration of these sacraments or liturgical rites by these persons is not only illicit but also invalid, as stipulated in the Code of Canon Law 1168-1170.
To avoid these incidents, it is best to visit the nearest Catholic parish office for appointments, schedules, and further inquiries.

Given at the Chancery Office, City of Imus, Cavite on the 25th of June 2025.

+REYNALDO G. EVANGELISTA, D.D.
Bishop of Imus
