SILANG, CAVITE (Jan. 20, 2026) — The first part of the series of conferences for the Taon ng Pakikinig of the Diocese of Imus is now taking place at the Sisters of Mary Girlstown, this municipality.

The conference series is a preparatory stage for the Diocesan Synod this year, which coincides with the 65th founding anniversary of the Diocese.

The event began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by the Most Rev. Reynaldo G. Evangelista, bishop of Imus.

Bishop Evangelista said that as a community of faith, there are many things that we should listen to, the first of which is the voice of God.

In his homily, the bishop spoke of the need to respond to the needs of the people of Cavite by looking deeper into the needs of the Diocese. This is in in line with the Second Vatican Council's call to read and respond to the signs of the times.

The bishop also told the congregation that religious practices should lead to love and service of neighbor, especially the poor.

"Bilang Simbahang lokal sa Cavite, hindi tayo pwedeng Karakol lang nang Karakol, piyestahan nang piyestahan, prusisyon nang prusisyon, pero hindi natin natutugunan ang tunay na hamon na nangyayari sa ating Diyosesis. Ito ang pakikinig na dapat mangyari: God is calling us to look deeper into the realities of our Diocese," Bishop Evangelista said.

Also attending the conference are priests of the Diocese, together with lay delegates from parishes, diocesan ministries and lay associations; representatives from religious congregations; and member schools of the Diocese of Imus Catholic Educational System (DICES).
