In its recent plenary assembly, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has approved the alternative Filipino version of the Hail Mary prayer.
This new edition does not replace the existing version; instead, it offers a simpler, more meaningful, and biblically-sound translation that remains faithful to the original Latin text.
The issuance of this alternative Filipino prayer coincides with the celebration of the Ordinary Jubilee Year of 2025 and the 50th Anniversary of CBCP Pastoral Letter on the Blessed Virgin Mary, Ang Mahal na Birheng Maria, issued on February 2, 1975.
Attached are the copies of the Tagalog and alternative Filipino versions of the Hail Mary prayer.
May our faith in the Lord constantly be nourished through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
