TO: THE CLERGY, CONSECRATED PERSONS, AND LAY FAITHFUL OF THE DIOCESE OF IMUS

RE: ORATIO IMPERATA DURING EL NIÑO PHENOMENON

Dear Brother Priests, Consecrated Persons, and Lay Faithful, Greetings of peace!

The prevailing global warming due to El Niño phenomenon brought drought, crises in water and energy supplies, and affected our health and living conditions.

Our efforts amidst this calamity are inadequate and beyond our human control.

For this reason, the Oratio Imperata or Obligatory Prayer has been part of our Catholic tradition where we invoke the compassion and love of the Lord during a time of grave need and extreme calamity.

Attached is the copy of the Oratio Imperata to be prayed regularly within our Eucharistic celebrations in all parishes and communities.

The month of May used to be a moment of blessing when rain pours and flowers bloom. This is made possible only through the grace of the Lord.

I enjoin everyone to pray unceasingly and ask the Lord to deliver us from this calamity.

Given at the Chancery Office, City of Imus, Cavite on the 1st of May 2024.

(SGD) +REYNALDO G. EVANGELISTA, D.D.

Bishop of Imus

Encl. (1) Oratio Imperata during El Niño phenomenon.
