July 24, 2026
Dear Brother Priests, Consecrated Persons, and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Imus,
Greetings of peace!
The Sixth World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly, established by His Holiness Pope Francis in 2021 in recognition of their vital role in the transmission and growth of the Christian faith, will be obsereved on the 26th of July 2026, the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
The late Pope Francis reminds us that the elderly are signs of hope. Even when their bodies grow frail, nothing can hinder them from loving, praying, and being there for one another.
In this celebration, Pope Leo XIV affirms our commitment to care for them, recongizing that old age is a time blessing and grace as the elderly are among the foremost witness of hope.
I encourage all parishes and Christian communities to initiate programs and activities that will highlight the significance of this meaningful event.
The attached prayer will be prayed after communion in all Eucharistic celebrations.
Thank you very much for your kind collaboration. May we always become instruments of the growth and transmission of the Christian Faith.
Given at the Chancery Office, City of Imus, Cavite on the 23rd of July 2026.
Sincerely in Christ,
+REYNALDO G. EVANGELISTA, D.D.
