Dear Brothers Priests, Consecrated Persons, and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Imus,
Greetings of peace!
In communion with the Church's call to ecological conversion and our diocesan commitment toward becoming a Zero-Waste Church, the Presbyteral Council of Imus encourages all parishes, schools, institutions, ministries, and communities to adopt environmentally responsible practices.
The Diocese of Imus strongly discourages the use of tarpaulins and encourages instead the use of reusable cloth banners and similar sustainable materials. Similarly, the utilization of disposable plastic utensils, single-use food containers, plastic banderitas, and other non-biodegradable decorations are discouraged. We have to work together to make a significant impact in reducing plastic waste in our Local Church of Cavite.
This common initiative must not be left solely to the responsibility of the Ministri sa Kalikasan. Rather, it is a concrete gesture of inter-ministeriality, which includes our Parish Pastoral Councils, mandated organizations, ministries, schools, youth groups, chapel communities, and Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs). Our care for creation must become part of our consciousness, lifestyles, faith formations, and pastoral activities.
As this is a shared responsibility, we also encourage active collaboration with our local government units, civic organizations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders. Through this communal participation, we widen the scope of our mission to respond to the call to care for our common home and stand in solidarity with those affected by ecological decline, especially the poor and the marginalized.
Given at the Chancery Office, City of Imus, Cavite, on the 14th of October 2026.
