The Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts was founded in Rome in the year 1886 on February 21 by Blessed Fr. Simpliciano of Nativity, OFM - a Franciscan Minor Alcantarine who opened a hospice for young wayward girls of Rome. The Congregation expanded and reached the Philippine Archipelago in the year 1976, opened a school in order to reach out to families in the surrounding areas, helped in Parish work, that is, Sunday catechism class, feeding program in the urban poor areas, administering charitable institutions (orphanages), and teaching religious education in school.
